County: Loudoun County
Location:Furnace Mountain road in Lovettsville
Activity:My wife and I had our neighbors over for an impromptu BBQ. We had a really nice dinner and afterward, we moved to the West side of my deck to sit and talk. After a while, I excused myself and went to the south side of the deck to start cleaning up from dinner, move the baby`s high chair inside, etc. As I was going in and out of the house, I heard sharp "knocking" or "rapping" noises coming from the woods directly south of the house. There is a large rocky ravine there with a spring head. I immediately stopped and looked and listened in that direction and immediately smelled an overwhelming smell like dank, wet hair. I sat still for a minute and heard rustling in the woods, and then more knocking. I quitely went to my neighbot and motioned for him to come join me. He smelled it too, and then we heard the knocking again. After a moment or two, he made 3 quick knocking sounds which were immediately answered with 3 rapid knocks from the ravine. I got a flashlight and shined it in the direction, but the foliage was too overgrown to see anything past the tree line. Eventually the knocking stopped and the smell dissapated. I had no clue until I looked up forest knocking sounds on google and got links to Sasquatch. I did not see anything, but the smell along with the reply to Steve`s knocking lead me to believe that we very well may have had a bigfoot visitor on the mountain.
Setting:Country house on the side of a mountain in a heavily wooded area.
