Virginia Bigfoot Research Organization Sighting Report.
Names have been retracted to protect confidentiality.
County: Fauquier County
Sighting Date:February 13, 2012
Location:Sumerduck VA off of rt 651
Physical Traits: Very large dark fur, slow moving (almost lumbering) creature. Appeared to be slumped ANY bear I have ever encountered.
Activity:Driving home on the night of February 13th at around 11:30 pm from visiting a friend I noticed a large hairy figure on the side of a creek bank in the wood line off of rt 651. Having projector headlights in my truck I got a glimpse of it moving through some thick brush into the wood line, otherwise with normal lighting this probably would have gone unnoticed. Nonetheless, the "animal" was large, hairy, dark matted looking fur and appeared to be sort of hunched over. I have spent more than half of life in the woods hunting, hiking and so on and I have seen my share of bear around my area. I am very familiar with the local wild life and am very confident saying I do not think I saw a bear. I am not 100% sure of what it could have been but given the size of the creature I have certainly never witnessed anything like it whatsoever. After catching the initial glimpse which only lasted 2-3 seconds while in a moving vehicle I came to a stop, rolled my window down in hopes to hear or see something to confirm what my eyes had just seen but I got nothing more. I called a good friend of mine a bit shaken (as you can imagine) and told him about the incident. Returning to the site the next day we could not discover any clear tracks (it being dusk) but did find some promising large game trails and "trampled" brush along with some broken twigs in the direction this thing was moving. I am unsure of what I saw certainly but now my question begs an answer I wish I had.
Setting:Dark, freezing cold close to midnight in mid febuary.
Witnesses: None aside from an immediate phone call.
